LÜDECKE Becomes Part of the OHA! Initiative

LÜDECKE is now a proud member of the initiative OHA! East Bavaria acts.
OHA! is an East Bavarian company initiative which highlights the responsibility of each individual for reaching climate objectives and supports regional companies to implement specific actions.

At an event for best practices held for members and interested people, LÜDECKE was welcomed as a new member and introduced to all participants a few weeks ago.
Managing director Klaus Herdegen opened the event at the LÜDECKE  ACADEMY. He was delighted that with this membership the company is now part of a network which actively and with determination persuades the objective to make our region climate neutral by 2030. LÜDECKE has been committed to climate protection for a long time and reasonably aligns economy and ecology with their Green Company plan. By being a member of OHA!, we hope to obtain measuring instruments to make swift and reasonable progress with regards to climate neutrality.
The founder of the OHA! initiative, Eduard B. Wagner, promised LÜDECKE the best support possible and highlighted once more the importance of such a cooperation. He wants to set an example with the coalition of the East Bavarian economy and become a role model for climate. Active action is urgently needed – climate change does not tolerate any delay.

For the event, two renowned speakers could be won: Professor Dr. Markus Schmitt (professor for economics at the HAW Landshut) as well as Bernhard Schwager (managing director of the OmniCert Consulting GmbH, chairman of the committee for environment management system/environment audit at the German Institute for Standardization).
First, Professor Dr. Schmitt gave a speech about “Companies and their challenges with sustainability” and showed how our economy and lifestyle have already exceeded the limits of available resources. With the current consumption of resources and greenhouse emissions, Germany would need three Earths to be able to maintain its previous economic activities. Professor Dr. Schmitt aligned the objectives of the economy and ecology and highlighted that sustainability scientists and entrepreneurs can learn a lot from one another. To be able to reach the objectives of reducing greenhouse emissions, it is crucial that companies, science, politics, civil society and each individual person start acting.
The second speaker, Bernhard Schwager, used real examples to demonstrate how the complicated legal situation hinders the progress of transitioning to a climate neutral society. For example, it takes seven years to set up a wind turbine as too much time is lost during planning due to bureaucratic reasons. It is up to the companies to build up political pressure to make faster progress in their efforts to act more sustainably.

At the end of the event during a tour of the LÜDECKE production halls, the participants gained an insight into the actions which have already been implemented and the future plans for an efficient energy supply of the company.
An exchange of experiences between the participants rounded off the successful event in Amberg.
